Quite possibly my favorite accompaniment to Charleston's balmy summers? Afternoon thundershowers. My work day is winding down, and Maple and I are gearing up for a weekend getaway, but for the moment I'm posted up on the couch, in front of our big, partially open picture window, coffee in hand (of course), watching the rain pour down on my happy front yard flowers...soaking this drizzly weather up as much as they are.
I should be taking care of looming chores...like...packing...but I couldn't help but take advantage of this couch-calling rainstorm. Anyway, here's a peek into what's been inspiring me and my design outputs as of late...I'll give you a hint: it's shiny, ultra-chic, reminiscent of an awesome, vintage era, and working it's way into just about every room in our house...and my client's (don't worry, Williams--not you).
Gold casserole dish? Brilliant addition to any dinner party.
Those hammered gold studs are calling my name....
Shiny-clad calling cards? I say yes.
I'll forgive the fact that it's Martha's kitchen that dons gold-plated cabinet hardware...it's amazing.
This gold-hued, geometric lamp would be stunning on my (somewhat imaginary) bedroom dresser. Furniture collecting takes time, right? Yes--if you're broke.
Instant art: planning to outfit a bare wall with marbled gold paper. My office, perhaps? Somehow I don't think that would fly with my Maple anywhere else...

Alright, friends.
Back to the rain.
HAPPY WEDNESDAY.

Wallet-worthy: summer sandals.
If you're anything like me, you're more than ecstatic about freeing your toes from winter socks and shoes and running around town in some saucy sandals. I've been on the hunt for the perfect wedge for about two years now and finally found just what I was looking and hoping for: Dolce Vita's Pela sandal. The only downside? They're a bit pricey--at least for my wallet. But, being the bargain shopper that I am, I decided to do some sale-searching, and voila: bluefly.com had a deal worth jumping on. Yes, friends, the Pela is only $106 when they retail everywhere else for $160 to 180. Thought I'd pass those savings right along to you lovely readers.
ENJOY. Your wallet (and toes) will thank you.

h.i.m. (happy in the morning): simple shades.
Hello, pretties. Hope your weekend was just perfect. Ours certainly was--it involved good food, ample couch time, a bit of work (sigh...when will it not?), mingling with good friends, watching cute pups launch themselves into the water at a "retrieving" contest, (random...yes...but true) Sunday morning church, 75 and sunny weather (today will be 79!), and...lounging in the sunny backyard with a quilt, the hubby and a good beer in hand.
Yes...magnificent...now back. to. work.
On another note...loving the classic palette of black and white at the moment. Just scored a black and white striped sequined tee on sale (yay) that inspired this morning's H.I.M. Just look at these pretty things--and how about that hardware from Anthro? Can't wait to move into this new house of ours and start prettying old pieces of furniture and bare walls with those stunners. Oh, and...I think I need that umbrella. Summer showers are just around the corner, after all.
Okay, readers--happy perusing.
HAPPY DAY.
HAPPY DAY.
