ODE TO OCTOBER.

October, and all of its perfection, is my very favorite month. I relish that moment in time when balmy summer weather so feverishly dissipates into crisp, sunshine filled days...dotted with the vibrant colorings of swirling autumn leaves. Suddenly it's boots weather...and scarf weather...and jacket weather...and drink-coffee-on-a-stroll-through-the-park-weather...and I seriously love it. So here you are, my ode to October, and all of its inspirational glory:

Happy Wednesday.
HAPPY END OF OCTOBER.

LOUISVILLE | DIARY OF A WEEKEND

My Maple and I travel a decent amount, but rarely do we ever really take a vacation. I'm talking serious unplugging--no email, no instagram...not even pinterest. I hate to admit it, but I'm quite attached to my phone. Mostly because I feel like in a service-based industry, I have to be. It's sort of my job to be.

So: enter in our anniversary weekend. Our five year anniversary, to be exact. We had a wedding in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, the 18th (our actual anni), so the Mr. and I decided to take advantage of the short hour-away distance and book a little 'staycation' in our own state for the entire weekend. And it was nothing short of perfection. No email. Nope...no instagram (can you believe it?). And no pinterest. Only good friends. Great art and inspiration. Unbelievably delicious food. Amazing site-seeing. And spending ample amounts of uninterrupted, much-needed, one-on-one time with my handsome Maple in this bustling, art and inspiration-infused city.

Anyway, here's a little photo diary of our amazing little river city rendezvous:

Can you guess where we stayed?
And can you believe this is Kentucky, my friends?
So proud of our state, and just how quickly it's popping up on the map as an art and design and food (and..ahem...bourbon) destination.

Now...back to work.
HAPPY MONDAY!

SNEAK PEEK | MORTON JAMES BOUTIQUE

An exciting thing is happening on the local Lexington scene, my friends. And, that exciting thing goes by the name Morton James--an amazing boutique filled with amazing wardrobe goods (men's and women's, I might add). We at Hannah Maple Studio were lucky enough to be involved with the design of the interior, and couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome. We may be biased, but we think it's just what we all were collaborating towards: a refined, rustic, industrial space that's gender neutral, and also warm and welcoming...and still southern. There were so many talented minds involved, and we are just so honored to have played a part in the concept. Here's a bit of a sneak peek...but you must go check it out in person! Seriously, the clothes could not be more amazing. Morton James opens to the public this Friday, October 18th!

Chelsea, my talented design assistant, and moi...relishing the outcome at Morton James'
opening soiree Monday evening.

Sneaky sneaky...peeky peeky!

And the uber-talented Tiffany behind Off Beat and Inspired (a must read), photographing the finished space this morning.

And of course my dapper dude, who is also my rock, and really made all of this possible with his unfathomable love, support, and patience..because you know I am not the easiest wife to have :)

He is amazing. And isn't he just so dang handsome?!

And...of course...the tastemakers behind the amazing goods at Morton James. Halie, the owner (on the right), and Julia, the manager (on the left). And don't you know they just have the most impeccable, sophisticated, southern taste in clothing! Now available to you, Lexington :)

So there you have it. Go and get you some Morton James!
Starting this Friday at 10 a.m.
You are sure to be obsessed.

BEYOND CHIC.

I wish I had more time to blog. I really do. It's something I'm working on, but haste makes waste, and when I do blog, I want it to be relevant content to my business and your likes...content that you super enjoy. So, with that said, it's Friday! And, if that isn't exciting enough, I have an amazing coffee table book to introduce to all of you: Beyond Chic, a drool-worthy, photo-laden documentation of great fashion designers and the interiors they live and work within. It's seriously good for the design-obsessed soul (and fashion, for that matter), not to mention for the top of your coffee table!

And...those images just speak for themselves. Truly, the epitome of chic. An inside-look into the fashion industry leaders who we are all so enamored with and intrigued by. Their home--their refuge--their sources of inspiration--and therefore a slice of who they are, what they aspire toward, and what brings them peace and happiness in their busy worlds. The worlds of Monolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Georgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Missoni...and so many more. Truly--the great fashion designers--and their 'beyond chic' dwellings!

Go and check it out, dear readers.

And happy Friday!

MASTER PLAN.

This week is already disappearing. It's Wednesday...I can't believe it. Days are a funny thing, and how quickly one fades into the next. And speaking of quietly fading away...how amazing is this art installation by designer Chad Wright? I'm enamored with the simplicity of the matter, and of course the striking photography, not to mention how hours upon hours of diligent work were so quietly washed away by the power of the sea, to be preserved only as a memory in a photograph.

Beautiful, no?
You can read more about the installation here.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY.

LATELY.

Per the norm, my 'lately' has been a little insane...but in such an amazing way. This week has been a whirlwind, and summer is disappearing without a trace. I can't even believe that it's nearly over, though fall and its brisk onset is incredibly welcome in my book. I can't stop looking at parkas and boots, but that's a completely different story, and perhaps a blog post!

Sorry for my unexplained silence, but as you can imagine, One Kings Lane had my hands pretty tied. Other than wrapping up the amazing experience that was our Tastemaker Tag Sale (thank you for your incredible support--we excitedly sold 70% of our goods!), we've been working hard on several new (and finishing) projects with amazing clients, and rendezvoused down to the ever-so-charming Winter Park, Florida to make headway on a historic home that's in the throws of a renovation. Demo started this Monday--so we had to establish a firm design direction, and make all those amazing material selections to go with it. It was amazing. I am blessed. Living the dream.

And, there's exciting news to be shared on the local happenings front: an amazing new boutique is in the works for Lexington! Y'all...I am not even kidding...their offerings are unreal...AND...it's for women and men. Morton James Boutique. Remember that name (and follow them on Instagram @MortonJames) -- because they are going to kill it!

I mean, just look at these Morton James ladies!

And, as if they aren't adorable enough, how crazy amazing is this tile they're installing?

You should be excited. I know I am.

Anyway, here's a glimpse into our other recent musings!

Chelsea and I jetted off to Winter Park, Florida to meet and greet a new project.

But only after dropping Ricardo at FedEx, who jetted off in the total opposite direction of New York.
We are still mourning his loss.
But we know he must be in good hands.
I hope his new owners know his favorite food is Trader Joe's Cookie Butter.
He also demands a Nespresso at 4 pm everyday.
He can be vicious....

Anyway, how undeniably charming is Winter Park?
I am ready to move...

And drink wine on this back patio every afternoon.

I am not proud of this photo (thank you, Chelsea, for capturing the embarassing throw back laugh), but I am quite giddy over these material selections that were made. The house in Winter Park is a gorgeous Federal that hails from 1926, so we chose materials accordingly. I want nothing more than to preserve the history and integrity of this gorgeous dwelling! That's the number one mistake of most renos: NOT allowing the architecture, the character, and the bones of the house dictate the design.

So, in other news, the Morton James boutique looked like this (above) when we left for Florida....

And it looked like this (above) when we landed. That's what I call GSD (getting _ _ _ _ done!).

And, it finally finally feels like fall 'round these parts.
And there is nothing I love more than crisp walks through our hood with an end destination of maple bacon donuts and locally roasted coffee. North Lime Coffee and Donuts, y'all. Get there. Now.

And speaking of food, my little lady friend Brooke and I (and our hubbies) ate plenty of goodness at Crave Lexington--the local food rally. And there was no shortage of local (insanely delicious) microbrews! So proud of this little gem of a city. It's well on its way to becoming a Charleston or an Austin--saturated with good food, good art, and great forward-thinking entrepreneurs. It's happening, people!

Anyway, that's my lately. I know yours has been just as busy. Hope it's been just as good!

Talk soon!
