Gift picks: for the host(ess).

Old-fashioned? Perhaps, but I very much believe in hostess gifts. I love the idea of providing your host/hostess(es) with a thoughtful little treasure in return for opening their home. Dinner may simply call for arriving with a bottle of wine in-hand (I heart #3), but weekend stays (or longer) allow a bit more creativity in the gift selection process.
